Geographical erosion maps

A geographical map which displays erosion at different locations

This map displays the erosion rates across the UK, Ireland and Northern Ireland. This has been compiling rain data and erosion data from the lab to give a clear picture where erosion on wind turbine blades would be the greatest in these locations.

Wind turbine maps

Generally measuring mass loss or volume loss

Erosion maps are used as a tool to compare samples eroded under different environmental conditions and allows for quick analysis to be completed on what combinations of input parameters result in the greatest erosion.

Tidal turbine maps

Erosion maps are used as a tool to compare samples eroded under different environmental conditions and allows for quick analysis to be completed on what combinations of input parameters result in the greatest erosion in tidal turbine blades. These maps also investigate different material directions and the implications of fibre oreintations.

Hip implant maps

Abrasion results with respect to force and size

Abrasion maps are used as a tool to compare samples eroded under different human conditions and allows for quick analysis to be completed on what combinations of input parameters result in the greatest abrasion of hip implant materials.

Dental implant maps

Research on dental erosion maps included studies of a range of soft drinks and various colas i.e orange juice, colas and milk.
